This historical procedure is retained for an OpenVMS system that already contains a third-party Charon or HP Idle utility. Avanti does not distribute these utilities, and this procedure has not been independently exercised with every package or OpenVMS version for Avanti 5.1.0. Back up the system, confirm the registered product identity, and prefer current instructions from the utility supplier.
1.Verify the Idle Utility is present.
$ PRODUCT SHOW PRODUCT IDLE
2.Remove the utility with the following command.
$ PRODUCT REMOVE IDLE
3.Reset the SYSGEN parameter CPU_POWER_MGMT.
Reset CPU_POWER_MGMT only if the third-party utility changed it and the supplier's removal instructions require that reset. Do not overwrite an independently configured value merely because the IDLE product was present.
$ MCR SYSGEN
SYSGEN> USE CURRENT
SYSGEN> SET CPU_POWER_MGMT 0
SYSGEN> WRITE CURRENT
SYSGEN> EXIT
Restart OpenVMS if required by the product-removal or parameter-change instructions. This procedure concerns guest software; it does not enable or disable Avanti's separate Auto-Idle configuration option.
