Avanti Virtual Alpha User Guide

VA_UG_img41

Specific tape drive information can be defined for emulated tapes under Avanti.  This is useful to support older operating systems, less common tape drives, or non-DEC tape drives.

vendor
Tape drive vendor name. An empty vendor defaults to DEC.

model_num
Tape drive model name.

rev_num
Tape drive firmware revision. The normal DLT2000 identity uses vendor DEC and revision 8D3C. If model_num is explicitly empty, Avanti selects the default vendor, model, and revision and replaces any separate vendor or rev_num; set vendor, model_num, and rev_num together when overriding the identity.

serial_num
Tape drive serial number, at most 255 bytes.

advanced_behavior (default: false)
Return additional DLT2000XT-like inquiry and sense data used by some guest tape drivers. This is a guest-compatibility option, primarily for Tru64 UNIX; it does not change the tape-image format or capacity.

disconnect (default: true)
Allow the tape drive to disconnect and later reselect during long SCSI operations. This is normal SCSI behavior and lets another target use the bus while the tape operation is in progress.

read_delay (default: 0)
Request an additional delay before each tape read, expressed in microseconds, up to 2,147,482,648. Zero adds no delay. Ordinary timing rounds a nonzero request up to a whole millisecond, so 1 through 1000 request 1 millisecond and 1001 through 2000 request 2 milliseconds.

write_delay (default: 0)
Request an additional delay before each tape write, with the same range, microsecond input, and whole-millisecond rounding as read_delay.

debug (default: false)
Reserved for a purpose-built diagnostic version supplied by Migration Specialties. This setting has no effect in an ordinary Avanti build.
