Avanti's TCQ option is disabled by default. When enabled, it advertises tagged-command support to the guest and requires disconnect support on the same disk. Historical field guidance used TCQ for OpenVMS quorum disks and reported both small performance improvements on some OpenVMS and Tru64 UNIX workloads and interference with some Tru64 UNIX installations. Those guest-family-wide claims are not current Avanti 5.1.0 benchmarks or compatibility results. Enable TCQ only when required by the installed guest or an exact tested configuration, and measure the target workload rather than assuming a performance improvement.
