Avanti Virtual Alpha User Guide

The following synthetic example shows the license-related portion of an Avanti log header for a current Version 4 key with a finite lifetime:

License key used at startup: s/n 4243r2 (v.4)        10 units
       Licensed to Example Customer
       Days remaining at startup: 30
Valid for releases up to 2027-9-30

•Days remaining at startup: 30

-The encoded termination date is the final local calendar day on which the key may authorize a new emulator start. A process started on that final valid day records zero days remaining. This startup count is not a live countdown. A process that has already started remains authorized until it exits; a later paid start is refused from local midnight after the termination date unless another eligible key is installed.

•Valid for releases up to 2027-9-30

-This is a separate restriction: the key can run a release only when the release date encoded in that software is on or before this support date. A maintenance patch may retain the encoded release date of the version it patches.

Days remaining is the difference between local calendar dates, accounting for month lengths and leap years. It is not a count of elapsed 24-hour periods; daylight-saving changes do not change the final valid date.

The serial number, generation, key-format version, licensed customer, and unit count have the same meanings as in the permanent-key example.
