Avanti Virtual Alpha User Guide

To record output from a serial port, check Log file in that port's configuration tab. The utility suggests a name based on the configuration <base> value and serial-port number. Verify that the selected path is unique across all ports, serial cards and emulator instances; change it where necessary.

This records output sent by the emulated serial port, together with the log header. Input typed into a terminal appears only if the guest echoes it back as output; this is not a separate capture of every keystroke. Logging remains available independently of whether a Telnet client is connected. It is separate from logging performed by PuTTY or another terminal program.

Each serial logfile uses the same filename, versions, timestamp and wmi settings as the main log. See Avanti Log File for retention and Logfile [+] for header and timestamp controls. Output is not size-limited; allow sufficient disk space and protect logs containing sensitive guest data.
