At the SRM console prompt, configure a Tru64 UNIX system disk for automatic boot as follows. Replace DKA0 with the actual system-disk device when necessary.
>>> SET AUTO_ACTION BOOT
>>> SET BOOT_OSFLAGS A
>>> SET BOOTDEF_DEV DKA0
>>> EXIT
EXIT closes Avanti cleanly and writes the console variables to the configuration's NVRAM file. The next launch uses the saved device and the A boot flag and boots automatically.
Tru64 UNIX normally restricts root to terminals permitted by the installed release's security configuration. Retain console recovery, use a named account and privilege elevation where the installed release supports them, and follow its security administration guide. Do not edit /etc/securettys merely as a generic Avanti setup step; enabling remote root access expands the system's attack surface.
