Avanti Virtual Alpha User Guide

The following setting applies to both de435 and de500 NIC blocks. It supplements the Type, Interface and Set MAC Address controls described under NIC. Those controls manage the type, adapter and mac properties. The current NIC panel does not display a [+] button for stats. To change the setting, stop the emulator, keep a backup of its configuration file, and edit the existing NIC block. The new value takes effect on the next emulator start.

stats (default: 0; range: 0 through 3600 seconds)
Sets the interval for logging receive/transmit counters for this emulated NIC. Use a whole number of seconds. Zero disables this periodic log output; a positive value requests a report at that interval. For example, stats = 60 requests a report approximately once per minute. Reporting is checked periodically by the emulator, so the interval is not an exact scheduling guarantee.

Reports use the DE500 label for both NIC types and include receive, receive-buffer-full, lost-receive and transmitted counters. They are diagnostic counters, not a capture of packet contents or a measurement of guaranteed network throughput. Logging does not require an interactive NIC monitor to be open, but a positive stats interval also limits that monitor's refresh rate: stats = 60 updates it approximately once per minute, and stats = 3600 can leave it unchanged for an hour. Zero disables periodic logging without imposing that delay on the monitor. Frequent reports increase log volume; restore stats to 0 after troubleshooting if the output is no longer needed.

Example line to add inside an existing de435 or de500 NIC block (not a complete configuration):

stats = 60;
