The Avanti log file header contains Avanti version and license-key information. The log file can be opened with any text editor, such as Microsoft Notepad. The temporary-license example and permanent-license example explain the current Version 4 header fields using synthetic customer data.
To inspect the key currently installed on the host, open the Avanti Configuration Utility and choose Help -> Show License Key. This is a read-only operation and does not normally require administrator rights. The dialog lists the key's serial number, generation, version, customer, units, and any expiration or support date, and reports whether the key is valid or why it could not be validated. A valid key does not by itself guarantee that enough units are free for another running configuration.
The configuration utility reads the current registry key each time you choose Show License Key. In contrast, a running emulator's log describes the key and remaining-day count captured when that process started. Replacing or removing the registry key does not rewrite that startup information or change an already running process's admitted unit claim.
The configuration utility's license-unit status uses a snapshot read when the utility opens. It refreshes that snapshot when you choose Help -> Show License Key or confirm an install/removal attempt, including an unsuccessful attempt. Canceling leaves the snapshot unchanged. The regular screen-update timer does not reread the registry. If another utility changes the key, or the local date changes while the utility remains open, choose Show License Key to refresh the displayed eligibility. The status is guidance, not a reservation of units: the emulator always validates independently at its next start.
Supported registry-based Avanti license keys use Version 4. Version 3 registry keys have expired and are no longer supported.
