Historical field reports describe an occasional halt during the first OpenVMS V7.1 boot after an installation from image media. The current 5.1.0 compatibility evidence includes successful V7.1 installation and disk boot but did not reproduce this intermittent halt. If this exact first-boot symptom occurs, record the complete console output and try one ordinary boot again. Do not assume that another boot failure has the same cause or recovery.
